A personal choice of one audio mix, a video and two BBC programmes from World Listening Day on 18th July 2013 to listen to again. Let me know what I’ve missed by commenting below.
1. Field recording mix
The Wired Lab site gave us a five minute mix of field recordings from the endangered Box Gum Grassy Woodlands . Mix by David Burraston, recordings by Burraston and Chris Watson.
You’ll have to follow the links to hear these. Acoustic ecology featured on the flagship news programme Today. This prompted a tweet from a BBC producer reminded me of the fun we had making Save Our Sounds, Two BBC World Service progammes all about acoustic ecology and endangered sounds.
3. The sound of cycling
Antonio Mainenti revealed the inner workings of the bicycle (how appropriate with the Tour de France reaching its climax) by using a contact microphone to pick up the vibration. His video of his ‘bike’s ears’, also includes other ambient sound:

PETA tweeted a link to their video of what it sounds like in factory farm. Not pleasant listening.
