I’m a Professor of Acoustic Engineering at the University of Salford, President-Elect of the Institute of Acoustics and a Senior Media Fellow for the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). I’m married, have twin boys (who are rapidly growing up). When I’m not working I like to play the sax loudly and cycles up mountains – but not at the same time.
If you want the full-blown profile, it’s on my Uni webpages
Just listened to most of the Radio 4 progamme ‘Green ears’. Was driving at time picking up daughter from music lesson- therefore missed elements. No problem ‘Listen Again’ on radio 4 website. No chance!
Found it very interesting as a student of garden design at Craven College (Bradford Uni accredited) Any suggetsions as to how it might be possible to listen to teh programme or access a transcript? ‘Aunty’ seem to be falling behind a little on this score.

I have a house to sell and want to mask the traffic noise int he backyard where there is a pool. Even if this is only a short term solution to mask it until the property is sold I am interested. It seems noone has figured out how to mask traffic noise in an outdoor situation other than setting up a fountain or waterfall
